The No. 12 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater bowling team opened Maryville University's Columbia 300 Saints Invitational Friday with five Baker games at Brunswick Zone in Chesterfield, Mo.
 
The Warhawks are in fourth place after the first day of competition with 4,851 pins, good for 194.0 per game.
 
UW-Whitewater finished with a 2-3 record, including wins over Drury (1058-851) and No. 2 Nebraska (968-966) and losses against Nebraska Wesleyan (967-900), No. 1 McKendree (1095-985) and No. 15 Lincoln Memorial (1066-940).
 
Competition resumes Saturday at 9:30 a.m. with traditional games.
