The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's and women's swimming and diving teams started the New Year on a high note Saturday afternoon, defeating both Lake Forest (Ill. ) and Lawrence in a triangular in Appleton, Wis.
The Warhawk men bested Lawrence 134-59 and Lake Forest 123-98 in the double dual, while the women downed Lake Forest 140-93 and edged Lawrence 125-111.
Sophomore
Tyler Chatterton (Kenosha, Wis./Tremper) led the men with first-place finishes in the 100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard individual medley. He posted a time of 1:01.75 in the 100 breast and a mark of 2:01.15 in the 200 IM.
Other individual event winners for the men included senior
Jonathan Jaworski (Waukesha, Wis./South), sophomore
Nick Jelich (Milwaukee, Wis./Marquette University HS) and sophomore
Jake Herlache (West Bend, Wis./Grafton). Jaworski won the 50-yard freestyle in 22.82 seconds, Jelich took the 100-yard freestyle in 50.06 seconds and Herlache crossed the finish line first in the 200-yard freestyle at 1:49.07.
The UW-Whitewater men also claimed both the 200-yard freestyle relay and 200-yard medley relay. Juniro

Thomas Stigler (Milwaukee, Wis./Muskego), senior
Chandler Lewis (Cedarburg, Wis./Cedarburg) and Herlache teamed up in the 200 free relay for a 1:30.87, while Herlache, Stigler, senior
Patrick Abrahams (Highland Park, Ill./Deerfield) and Amundson combined for a 1:40.84 in the 200 medley relay.
The Warhawk women claimed five individual events, including three in the freestyle. Junior
Renata Schlomann (New Berlin, Wis./Divine Savior Holy Angels) took the 50-yard freestyle in 25.05 seconds, junior
Bailey Weston (Fort Atkinson, Wis./Fort Atkinson) won the 100-yard freestyle in 57.02 seconds and sophomore
Olivia Theobald (Peoria, Ill./Dunlap) finished first in the 1,000-yard freestyle in 11:21.09.
Freshman
Sydney Rall (Prairie du Sac, Wis./Sauk Prairie) posted a 1:05.60 in the 100-yard backstroke to win the event, and senior
Erin Hawker (Chanhassen, Minn./Hutchinson) took the 200-yard individual medley in 2:16.74.
UW-Whitewater's 200-yard freestyle relay crossed the finish line first as Weston, Hawker, Theobald and Schlomann combined for a time of 1:43.45.
The Warhawks visit UW-Eau Claire next Saturday, Jan. 26, for a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference dual starting at 1 p.m.
