The No. 12 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater bowling team opened competition in the New Year Friday on the first day of the Kutztown Invitational at Limerick Bowl in Limerick, Pa.
 
The Warhawks posted a 3-2 record and a total pinfall of 4,714, good for an average of 188.6 per game, and are 18th after the first day of competition.
 
UW-Whitewater earned Baker match wins over No. 16 Sacred Heart (922-853), Morgan State (956-927) and No. 21 Adelphi (1007-953). The team was defeated by St. Francis Brooklyn and Mount St. Mary's.
 
The Warhawks continue action Saturday with five traditional games starting at 8:25 a.m. Central Time.
