The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's tennis team lost a road dual to Kalamazoo (Mich.) Sunday morning, their first dual in 11 days.
The Warhawk men (13-6) fell to Kalamazoo 6-3, snapping a three-match win streak.
In doubles, the Warhawks started out strong. Senior
Zane Navratil (Racine, Wis./The Prairie School) and junior
Jimmy Engelhart (Brookfield, Wis./East) quickly notched a point in the first slot, with before junior
Brandon Dechter (Mundelein, Ill./Carmel Catholic) and senior
Matt Zurowski (West Bend, Wis./East) following with a win in the second match.
After dropping the third doubles match, the Warhawks found themselves behind in singles, losing the first four singles matches and the dual to Kalamazoo (8-6). Sophomore
Lucas Monterroso (Montevideo, Uruguay/Colegio Jesus Maria) put together a come from behind 1-6, 6-1, 10-7 victory in the fifth slot to notch the lone Warhawks singles point.
The Warhawk men will be back in action next Friday to play their first spring game on Wangerin Courts in Whitewater. They face Washington-St. Louis at 4 p.m.
