Theo Billson (Lindfield, England/BHASVIC) & Luke Blumentritt (Granger, Ind./Indiana Connections Academy) advanced to the ITA Midwest Doubles Championship after picking up two wins on Sunday evening in St. Peter. Billson also will compete in the championship match for the singles play, taking his own two matches on Sunday morning. 

Billson opened the day with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Christian Wong from Gustavus Adolphus in the quarterfinal. In the semifinal, Billson faced the 4th overall-seed Maxi Gutbezahl from Grinnell. Billson grabbed the first set 6-2, but fell in a close second set 4-6. With the full third set, Billson secured his spot in the championship with a 6-2 win. 

Billson will face the top-overall seed Dominik Knutson from the host-school Gustavus Adolphus on Monday at 10 AM. 

After Billson secured his spot in the singles championship, he & Luke Blumentritt (Granger, Ind./Indiana Connections Academy) had two more matches to go to reach the doubles match. They opened the day against Jumpei Kasai & Murilo Abou Reijali from Coe. The Warhawk pair took the match 8-5 to set up a semifinal match against another pair of Kohawks, Josh Tiemann & Anthony Shulte. The Warhawks had a 6-3 game lead late, but a side break for Coe inched them close at 6-5. Billson & Blumentritt grabbed teh final two games to take the match 8-5 & secure a spot in the finals.

The pair will face the top-seeded Dominik Knutson & Takura Mhwandagara from Gustavus Adolphus on Monday. The match is set to begin at 2:30 PM following the singles championship.
