The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's tennis team returned to Wangerin Courts for the first time this spring to play a home duel versus Wheaton (Ill.)

The No. 39 nationally-ranked Warhawks (16-6) dominated Wheaton (14-3) to a score of 9-0.

The Warhawks quickly took control in doubles, with seniors
Bridgid McGuire (Slinger/Slinger) and
Jillian Wallace (Crystal Lake, IL/Central) leading the way in the first match with a 8-3 victory. Senior
Alexandra Talyansky (Mequon/Homestead) and junior
Gabi Kitchell (Wausau, Wis./D.C. Everest) followed it up with yet another point in an 8-5 battle, and the Warhawks headed into singles up 3-0.

The Warhawks claimed 5 of their 6 singles victories in straight sets. Kitchell suffered a 2-6 setback in the first set of her match, but charged back with a pair of decisive 6-1, 6-0 sets to claim the point. McGuire clinched the match for the Warhawks in the third match with a pair of 6-1 sets. Wallace rounded out the afternoon with a point in the fourth position to give the Warhawk women a clean victory.

The Warhawk women will be back in action Thursday against Carthage. The match was rescheduled from April 18 due to inclement weather, and will be played at 4 p.m. in Kenosha.
