The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's track and field team won the 13-team Augustana Women's Invitational Friday in Rock Island, Ill.
The Warhawks tallied 126.25 points to best UW-Stevens Point, which finished as runner-up with 113.
Senior
Celeste Madda (Crystal Lake, Ill./Central) won the 200-meter dash to lead UW-Whitewater. She improved upon her season best time, crossing the finish line in 25.07 seconds, good for a top 15 mark in NCAA Division III.
Senior
Lindsay Chase (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater) and sophomore
Abbie Felton (Burlington, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) each posted runner-up finishes in their respective individual events. Chase recorded a season-best distance of 172-05 (52.55 meters) in the hammer throw, which puts her among the top 10 in the nation. Felton was one of three UW-Whitewater finishers among the top eight in the 400-meter run with her career-best result of 56.28, which projects to rank among the nation's top 10.
Freshman
Raevin Peek (Beloit, Wis./Memorial) was one of six Warhawks among the top eight in the high jump. She finished second with a height of 5-01.75 (1.57 meters).
Junior
Liz Mielke (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater), sophomore
Sydney Prestifilippo (Naperville, Ill./North) and freshman
Shelby Nickels (Manitowoc, Wis./Lincoln) tallied third-place finishes. Mielke completed the 10,000-meter run in 38:38.88, Prestifilippo collected a time of 11:46.03 in the 3,000-mter steeplechase and Nickels contributed a 17-02.25 (5.24 meters) in the long jump.
UW-Whitewater's 4x100-meter relay team of junior
Jordan Tokarski (Oconomowoc, Wis./Kettle Moraine), Madda, Felton and freshman
Karon Brown (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) combined to finish the race in 48.05 seconds, good for third place at the meet and a top 15 time in Division III.
Sophomore
Ashley Tijerina (West Chicago, Ill./West Chicago), senior
Enyo Amet (Racine, Wis./Prairie), sophomore
Megan Hering (Black Earth, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) and Felton teamed up to finish third in the 4x400-meter relay in 3:54.41, which ranks among the country's top 10.
The Warhawk women return to action next Saturday, April 28, at the UW-Whitewater Drake Alternative Meet. Events are set to begin at 11 a.m. at Rex Foster Track.
