The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's and women's track and field teams completed their first day at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships at Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala.
 
Senior Lindsay Chase (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater) collected her second career All-America medal, placing eighth in the weight throw with a toss of 56-01.00 (17.09 meters). Her point left the UW-Whitewater women tied for 30th at the end of the first day of competition.
 
The Warhawks' 4x400-meter relay team of sophomores Ashley Tijerina (West Chicago, Ill./West Chicago), Megan Hering (Black Earth, Wis./Wisconsin Heights), senior Enyo Amet (Racine, Wis./Prairie) and sophomore Abbie Felton (Burlington, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) qualified for Saturday's final with a mark of 3:54.40.
 
Felton placed 10th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.56 seconds, the best of her career.
 
The men qualified for finals in a pair of events.
 
UW-Whitewater will send two to the 60-meter hurdles final after sophomore Alex Duff (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) qualified third by matching his season-best time of 8.10 and sophomore Christian Jackson (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa West) established a personal record with an 8.14, good for fourth.
 
Senior Parker Witt (Appleton, Wis./Appleton North) posted the No. 7 result in the 60-meter dash, qualifying for Saturday's final with a 6.90.
 
Duff enters Saturday at fourth in the heptathlon with a score of 2801 through four events. He topped the group in the long jump with a 22-03.50 (6.79 meters) and finished second in the 60-meter dash (7.16).
