The No. 20 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater bowling team picked up three more wins to improve to 8-1 Saturday on the second day of Valparaiso's Crusader Classic at Lakewood Bowl in Richton Park, Ill.
The Warhawks bested Monmouth (N.J.), Augustana (Ill.) and Maryville (Mo.) before falling by six pins against top-ranked Nebraska in traditional games to improve to 8-1 for the tournament.
Freshman
Mary Conneely (Des Plaines, Ill./Maine West) and junior
Emma Kuhn (Texas City, Texas/Texas City) paced UW-Whitewater, finishing fifth and sixth, respectively, out of 89 competitors individually. Conneely averaged a 200 in five games, while Kuhn averaged a 198.80 in five games.
Sophomore
Kailee Tubbs (Flint, Mich./Davison) was close behind in eight with a tally of 197.80 per traditional game. Junior
Lauren Price (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) ranked 25th with a 174 average, and freshman
Karlee Barton (Joliet, Ill./Joliet West) rounded out the top five Warhawks with a 189 average in three games, good for 56th.
UW-Whitewater stands second out of 13 teams after the second day of competition with a total pin fall of 9,489 pins, good for a 189.8 average.
The Warhawks conclude the tournament with bracket play starting Sunday at 8 a.m.
