The No. 20 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater bowling team finished with an 11-1 record over the weekend to place second at the 13-team Valparaiso Crusader Classic at Lakewood Bowl in Richton Park, Ill.
The Warhawks totaled 12,129 pins for the weekend, good for a 186.6 average, in eight Baker games and five traditional games. The team finished second to top-ranked Nebraska, which posted a 12-0 mark and collected 12,572 pins (193.4 per game).
In Sunday's Baker games, UW-Whitewater bested Elmhurst 905-798, downed Valparaiso 975-893 and outlasted Lincoln (Mo.) 760-704.
Following the conclusion of play, freshman
Mary Conneely (Des Plaines, Ill./Maine West) was selected to the All-Tournament Team after recording a 200 average in Saturday's five traditional games. She led the team and placed fifth out of 89 bowlers.
UW-Whitewater visits the Stephen F. Austin Stormin' Ladyjack Invitational next Friday-Sunday, Feb. 16-18, at Copperfield Bowl in Houston, Texas.
