Bowling Fourth After Strong First Day at Warhawk Classic

The No. 21 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater bowling team bested four ranked opponents Friday on its way to a 5-0 record and fourth-place standing after the first day of the three-day Warhawk Classic at AMF West Lanes in Milwaukee.
 
The Warhawks tallied victories over No. 18 Central Missouri, No. 19 LIU Brooklyn, No. 15 Adelphi, Lewis and No. 9 Fairleigh Dickinson.
 
In the process, UW-Whitewater posted two five-game series above 1000 pins and posted a 279 in Game 4 against Fairleigh Dickinson, the team's second-best Baker score in program history. Between the fourth and fifth games, the team collected 17 straight strikes.
 
The Warhawks finished the day with a cumulative pinfall of 5,061, good for an average of 202.4 per Baker game.
 
Traditional games begin Saturday at 9:25 a.m. UW-Whitewater will start the day against No. 6 Stephen F. Austin (Texas).
