Bowling to Host 2018 Warhawk Classic Starting Friday

The No. 21 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater bowling team will host the three-day, 18-team Warhawk Classic this Friday through Sunday at AMF West Lanes on 7505 W. Oklahoma Ave. in Milwaukee, Wis.
 
Admission to the tournament, which includes a field of NCAA women's bowling teams, is free.
 
The Warhawks are one of 12 teams in the field ranked among the top 20 in the latest National Tenpin Coaches Association national rankings. Other competing teams include No. 1 Vanderbilt (Tenn.), No. 2 McKendree (Ill.), No. 3 Nebraska, No. 4 Sam Houston State (Texas), No. 5 Arkansas State, No. 6 Stephen F. Austin (Texas), No. 9 Fairleigh Dickinson (N.J.), No. 14 Lincoln Memorial (Tenn.), No. 15 Adelphi (N.Y.), No. 18 Central Missouri, No. 19 LIU Brooklyn (N.Y.) and No. 22 Maryville (Mo.).
 
Play begins Friday at 11 a.m. with five sets of Baker total pinfall games, continues Saturday at 9:25 a.m. with five sets of traditional team games and concludes Sunday at 8:30 a.m. with best-of-seven Baker matches.
 
UW-Whitewater has made three trips in the last six years to the NCAA Championship, which includes all divisions. The Warhawks placed third in the nation in 2014 and 2015.
 
Head coach Leann Sullivan is in her eighth season at the helm of the program. She is a two-time NTCA Division II/III Coach of the Year.
 
UW-Whitewater enters the weekend with a record of 16-9, including a 9-3 mark last weekend at Valparaiso's Crusader Challenge.
