The No. 21 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater bowling team finished with a 5-0 record in traditional games Saturday to maintain its lead at the 10-team Valparaiso Crusader Classic at Lynwood Bowl in Lynwood, Ill.
The Warhawks defeated Valparaiso, Elmhurst, Drury, Augustana and Kentucky Wesleyan to improve to 8-1 for the weekend.
UW-Whitewater pushed its cumulative pin total to 9,220, good for an average of 184.4 per game.
Junior
Kailee Tubbs (Flint, Mich./Davison) earned tournament Most Valuable Player honors, finishing atop the 66-player field with a 217.80 average. She never rolled a game below 205 and recorded a team-best 231.
Senior
Emma Kuhn (Texas City, Texas/Texas City) placed 15th overall with a 184.60 average. Sophomores
Karlee Barton (Joliet, Ill./Joliet West) and
Mary Conneely (Des Plaines, Ill./Maine West) finished 34th and 37th, respectively. Barton averaged a 178.33 in three games, and Conneely averaged a 173.67 in three games.
Sophomore
Macayla Powers (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township) rolled two games and averaged a 191 to place 46th, and senior
Lauren Price (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) finished 47th with a 177.50 average in two games. Sophomore
Peyton Attig (Oak Lawn, Ill./Harold L. Richards) contributed a 174 average in two games to place 49th, and junior
Rachel Baumann (Marengo, Ill./Marengo) compiled a 160 average in two games to finish 54th.
Senior
Brett Butschke (Watertown, Wis./Watertown) collected a 127 in her lone game of the day and ended up in 61st.
Best-of-seven Baker bracket play begins at 8:30 a.m. Sunday. The Warhawks are the No. 1 seed and will face Kentucky Wesleyan to begin the day.
