The No. 21 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater bowling team is in first place after Friday's opening day at Valparaiso University's Crusader Classic at Lynwood Bowl in Lynwood, Ill.
 
The Warhawks totaled 4,620 pins in five Baker rounds, good for an average of 184.8 per game.
 
UW-Whitewater finished with a 3-1 record for the day, besting Kentucky Wesleyan 1051-819 to start the day. The team then downed North Central (862-511) and Aurora (900-750) before falling 908-903 against Lewis to conclude the day.
