The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's and women's cross country teams competed Saturday at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships Presented by Culver's at Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax, Wis.
The Warhawk men tallied 138 points, only seven shy of fifth place. The women amassed 201 points.
Sophomore
David Fassbender (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) and senior
Jonah Nelson (Dodgeville, Wis./Dodgeville/Mineral Point) posted all-conference results to lead the men. Fassbender's time of 25:07.7 was good for sixth place and first team honors. Nelson earned second team accolades with his time of 25:30.6, good for 14th overall out of 91 participants.
Sophomore
Kyle Neuroth (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) finished in the top third of the field with a mark of 26:02.0, good for 30th place. Sophomore
Brian Kuehl (Geneva, Ill./Geneva) finished fourth on the team and 50th overall with a career-best 26:42.8, and junior
Aaron Carmichael (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran HS) crossed the finish line in 26:44.8, good for 52nd.
Seniors
Braeden Michael (Chippewa Falls, Wis./Chippewa Falls) and
Jeremy Morgan (Tinley Park, Ill./Tinley Park) rounded out the top seven. Michael placed 61st in 26:57.7, and Morgan finished 64th in 27:02.6.
Junior
Grant Miller (Cedarburg, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) placed 73rd with a 27:38.3. Freshmen
Mathias Otten (Sheboygan, Wis./Sheboygan Lutheran),
Nick Key (Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) and sophomore
Conner Hackett (Darlington, Wis./Darlington) finished in a pack in the Nos. 79-81 places, and junior
Seth Zimdars (Ripon, Wis./Ripon) placed 86th at 29:46.5.
Sophomore Jessie Braun led the women with a 23:52.5, good for 36th out of 89 runners. Freshman Julia Wesley and senior Manda Slaback placed 46th and 47th, respectively. Wesley collected a personal record mark of 24:25.2, and Slaback finished two seconds later in 24:27.1.
Sophomore Julia Fewell crossed the finish line 55th with a 24:58.1. Senior Elizabeth Considine tallied a 25:27.5 to finish 62nd overall.
Sophomore Tiffany Bianco and junior Hailey Van Ells rounded out the team's top seven in 76th and 77th place, respectively. Bianco registered a 26:40.6, and Van Ells posted a 26:41.4.
Freshman Amanda Leder and sophomore Jenny Kinjerski placed 79th and 80th in 26:56.1 and 27:02.1, respectively. Sophomore Kennedy Hauser finished 85th in 27:41.2, junior Gabrielle Martin placed 86th in 27:45.9, and senior Lauren Oleniczak crossed the finish line in 27:59.7, good for 88th overall.
UW-Whitewater continues postseason action Saturday, Nov. 10, at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships. The meet, which also takes place at Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax, begins with the men's 8-kilometer race at 11 a.m. and continues at 12 p.m. with the women's 6K.
