The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's track and field team hosted the Warhawk Classic Invitational and Multi on Saturday, placing third overall at the nine-team meet with 73 points.
Senior captain
Lindsay Chase (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater), sophomores
Abbie Felton (Burlington, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) and
Sydney Prestifilippo (Naperville, Ill./North) each claimed first place honors to lead the Warhawks.
Chase won the weight throw with a personal record toss of 57-00.00 (17.37 meters), good for a top-five result in the nation.
Prestifilippo crossed the finish line ahead of 23 other competitors in the 3,000-meter run with a career-best time of 10:57.67.
Felton recorded a season-best result of 57.51 seconds in the 400-meter dash to move into the top 10 in NCAA Division III.
Making her season debut, junior captain
Celeste Madda (Crystal Lake, Ill./Central) entered the top 20 in the country in the 60-meter dash with a preliminary mark of 7.92, second-best in the field. She did not compete in the event final.
Senior
Enyo Amet (Racine, Wis./Prairie) finished among the top three in a pair of events, placing third in the 400-meter dash with a 59.56 and tied for third in the high jump with a 4-11.50 (1.51 meters).
Freshman
Shelby Nickels (Manitowoc, Wis./Lincoln) improved her top 25 national result in the long jump with a 17-09.50 (5.42 meters).
The Warhawks resume action next Saturday, Feb. 3, at the Point Invite. Competition begins at 10:30 a.m. at UW-Stevens Point.
