Humphreys, McGuire to Represent Warhawks at NCAA Championships

Senior Megan Humphreys (Kenosha/Tremper) and junior Bridgid McGuire (Slinger/Slinger) will compete in the doubles tournament during the NCAA Division III Championships starting Thursday at Champions Tennis Club in Chattanooga, Tenn.
 
Humphreys and McGuire are one of 16 doubles teams selected to compete in the tournament, which begins Thursday with first round matches at 2 p.m. Central Time.
 
Draws for the doubles tournament will be released Wednesday following the conclusion of the team championship.
 
Humphreys and McGuire also qualified for the doubles portion of the national championships last season, falling in straight sets in the first round against Bridget Harding and Katarina Su of Emory (Ga.). The duo garnered All-America accolades after finishing No. 10 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's national doubles rankings.
 
The pair owns a 1-2 record against other qualifying teams in this year's field, downing Lauren Hawley and Emma Alsup by an 8-3 score back on April 8. They were defeated 9-7 against Kaylan Griffith and Rebecca Ho of Washington-St. Louis and 8-3 against Joulia Likhanskaia and Samantha Stalder of Bowdoin (Maine).
 
Humphreys and McGuire are 16-4 playing together entering the week and have won five straight matches and eight of their last 10. They own a record of 53-14, good for a winning percentage of .791, playing together since 2015.
 
Humphreys and McGuire will earn All-America standing with one victory this week.
