The men's and women's track and field teams sent some individuals and relay squads to the UW-La Crosse Open on Friday. With the WIAC meet complete, many Warhawks competed to attempt to improve upon national qualifying marks ahead of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships, held May 25-28 in Geneva, Ohio.

Warhawks improving their times and marks nationally were the men's 4x100 relay, senior Levi Perry, and senior
Lindsay Chase (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater). The 4x100 meter relay squad of Josh Iraci, Zak Loess, Grant Loess, and Parker Witt ran a 41.43 to move to No. 14 in Division III in the event. In the hammer throw, Levi Perry threw a new career-best mark of 186-1 (56.73 meters) to improve to No. 13 in Division III in the event. For the women, senior
Lindsay Chase (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater) threw a massive new career-best of 173-8 (52.93 meters) in the hammer throw, a mark that launches her to No. 13 in Division III in the event. Â

Junior Theron Baumann won both the shot put and the discus throw with marks of 54-6.75 (16.63 meters) and 167-1 (50.92 meters), respectively. In the Division III rankings, Baumann currently has the No. 3 mark in the shot put and the No. 6 mark in the discus throw.

Seniors
Genny Rose Stringer (Assumption, Ill./Assumption) and
Amanda Strupp (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) took first and second in the discus throw with marks of 153-3 (46.71 meters) and 144-5 (44.02 meters), respectively. Stringer continues to maintain the No. 1 mark in Division III in the event.

Next up for the Warhawks will be the UW-La Crosse Invitational and the Gregory Invitational at North Central College, offering one last opportunity for individuals and relays to improve national qualifying marks before the qualifying period closes. Both meets will be held on Friday.
