Men's and Women's Track and Field Post Strong Performances at Rex Foster Invitational

The Warhawk men's and women's track and field teams each put up some strong performances on Friday as they hosted their first home outdoor meet of the season, the Rex Foster Invitational. No team scores were kept.
 
Senior Genny Rose Stringer (Assumption, Ill./Assumption) had an impressive day for the Warhawk women, winning the discus throw and taking over the number one spot in Division III in the event with her mark of 157-11 (48.13 meters). Stringer also took second in the shot put with a mark of 40-11.50 (12.48 meters).
 
Senior Meredith Porter (Hales Corners, Wis./Whitnall) opened her outdoor season with a win in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:02.55, a time which currently puts her at No. 5 in Division III in the event.
 
Sophomore Celeste Madda (Crystal Lake, Ill./Central) had a great start to her outdoor season. Madda won the 200 meters in a new career best of 24.90, a time that puts her at No. 2 in the nation in Division III in the event, and she also ran a 12.01 in the 100 meter prelims, a time that vaults her in the top five in Division III in the event. Also in the 200 meters, sophomore Abbie Felton (Burlington, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) took second in 26.04 and freshman Sydney Rossow (West Bend, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) placed third in 26.67.
In other notable performances, junior Erika Sternard (Cary, Ill./Cary-Grove) won the high jump with fewer misses at a mark of 5-01.25 (1.56 meters). Freshman Rachel Holk (Waldo, Wis./Sheboygan Lutheran) took second in the event, setting a new career-best mark of 5-01.25 (1.56 meters).
 
Freshman Miranda Slaback (Janesville, Wis./Parker) won the 1500 meters in a new career-best time of 5:03.48. Fellow freshman Ally Bachara (Fox Lake, Ill./Grant) took third in the shot put with a new career-best throw of 38-00 (11.58 meters).

Leading the way for the No. 8 ranked men's team was junior Parker Witt, who won his outdoor debut in the 200 meter dash in 21.61, which is currently the second fastest time in Division III in the event. Witt was also a part of the winning 4x100 relay squad, who, along with freshman Josh Iraci, freshman Jake Schneider, and senior Grant Loess, finished in 41.78, which currently ranks as the fourth fastest time in Division III.
 
Josh Iraci also won the 100 meter dash in a career-best 10.87, a time that puts him in to the top 15 in Division III in the event. Freshman Oren Henderson-Zintz finished third in 10.90, senior Zak Loess was fourth in 10.91, and Grant Loess was fifth in 10.93. Each of these times currently rank in the top 25 in Division III in the event.
 
In other notable performances, freshman Christian Jackson won the 110 meter hurdles in a new career-best of 14.90, a time that puts him in to the top 10 in Division III in the event. Also in the 110 hurdles, junior Robert Martin set a new personal best of 15.25 to place third.
 
Senior Levi Perry won the hammer throw in a new career-best mark of 176-02 (53.70 meters). Junior Theron Baumann continued his winning ways, taking the top spot in the discus throw with a mark of 49.45, which keeps him in the top 10 in Division III in the event. Baumann also won the shot put with a mark of 54-11.25 (16.74 meters), and he still owns the number one mark in Division III in the event: 17.37 meters, set last weekend.
 
Senior Jack Bullis won the javelin throw in another new career-best mark of 185-02 (56.43 meters). Freshman Zach Jasinski placed second with a mark of 16-0.75 (4.90 meters), a new outdoor best and a top 15 mark in Division III.
 
Up next, the Warhawk men's and women's track and field teams will travel to Platteville on Friday to compete at the UW-Platteville Invitational. Events begin at 11 a.m.
