The No. 27 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's tennis team clinched its 10th consecutive trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament Saturday by winning the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Team Tournament for the 10th straight year at Premier Tennis and Fitness in Janesville.

The Warhawks (20-7 overall), who earned the No. 1 seed and hosting privileges for the tournament by claiming the WIAC championship in the fall, downed fourth-seeded UW-Oshkosh 5-0 in the semifinals before closing out their title run with a 5-0 triumph against No. 3 seed UW-La Crosse in the final. By rule, both matches were played to decision.

UW-Whitewater also recognized seniors Megan Humphreys (Kenosha/Tremper) and Rachel Siemon (Crystal Lake, IL/South) between matches during their final home competition. The duo has helped the Warhawks post four WIAC championships and reach the NCAA Tournament four times, including two trips to the Round of 16.

In the semifinal against UW-Oshkosh (9-11), the Warhawks dropped a combined two games in three doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead. Humphreys and junior Bridgid McGuire (Slinger/Slinger) collected an 8-1 win at No. 1, juniors Alexandra Talyansky (Mequon/Homestead) and Jillian Wallace (Crystal Lake, IL/Central) earned an 8-1 victory at No. 2 and Siemon and junior Alicia Beck (Bismarck, ND/St. Mary's Central) teamed up for an 8-0 triumph at No. 3.

Humphreys and Wallace clinched the match at the first and third singles positions, respectively, to send UW-Whitewater into the final.

Against UW-La Crosse (20-5), the Warhawks started with another 3-0 mark. Humphreys and McGuire tallied an 8-1 win at the top spot, and Talyansky and Wallace registered an 8-4 victory at No. 2. Beck and junior Brittany Goebel (McHenry, IL/West) recorded an 8-3 triumph at the third position.

Neither Beck (No. 5) nor Goebel (No. 6) surrendered a game in singles play to bring the match to decision.

UW-Whitewater will learn its destination for the first three rounds of the NCAA Tournament in a press release scheduled to be published on Monday, May 8, on NCAA.com.

The NCAA Tournament begins Friday, May 12.
