The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater bowling team placed fifth/sixth at the United States Bowling Congress Intercollegiate Team Championships in Baton Rouge, La.
 
Playing in best-of-seven Baker, double elimination bracket play, the Warhawks were downed in the winner's match against NCAA national champion McKendree by a 4.5-2.5 score.
 
Facing elimination, UW-Whitewater was defeated in five games against Midland.
 
The Warhawks conclude their season ranked No. 11 in the final National Tenpin Coaches Association rankings.
 
The tournament was the last in the careers of seniors Taylor Hoppe (Rockford, Ill./Thomas Jefferson), Destinee Kafka (Rockford, Ill./Guilford), Ashleigh Miller (Zion, Ill./Zion-Benton Township) and Amanda Van Duyn (Kenosha, Wis./Kenosha Bradford), who was named a National Collegiate Bowling Coaches Association honorable mention All-American earlier this week. Van Duyn also earned NTCA honorable mention All-America accolades.
