The No. 10 Warhawk men's track team and the No. 25 women's track and field team competed well at the UW-Platteville Invitational Thursday evening and Friday, against several fellow teams ranked in the top 25 in Division III. No team scores were kept, and the 4x400 relays and the men's javelin events did not occur due to numerous rain delays.
Thursday featured the fast heats of the 5,000 meters and the hammer throw. Freshman
Miranda Slaback (Janesville, Wis./Parker) ran a new career-best time of 18:43.36 in the 5,000 meters. For the men in the hammer throw, senior Levi Perry threw a huge new career best mark of 179-9 (54.80 meters) to finish second. On the women's side, senior
Amanda Strupp (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) finished fourth with a mark of 162-0 (49.37 meters).
For the women on Friday, senior
Genny Rose Stringer (Assumption, Ill./Assumption) led the way with a win in the discus throw with a mark of 148-11 (45.40). Stringer still owns the nation's No. 1 mark in the event. The women's 4x100 squad of junior

In the 400 meters, senior
Meredith Porter (Hales Corners, Wis./Whitnall) finished second in a new outdoor best time of 56.72. This time moves her to No. 11 in Division III in the event. Sophomore
Abbie Felton (Burlington, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) placed fourth in 58.03.
Seniors
Ana Liska (New Berlin, Wis./West) and
Leah Richter (Fond du Lac, Wis./Fond du Lac) both finished fourth in the pole vault with a mark of 11-03.75 (3.45 meters). This is a new career-best mark for Liska. Richter also placed fifth in the 400 meters in 58.63 and seventh in the 200 meters in a new career-best time of 25.91.
On Friday for the men, Parker Witt again led the way, winning the 100 meter dash in 10.44, a new career best and the new No. 1 time in Division III in the event. Freshman Josh Iraci placed third in the event in 10.91.
Other winners on Friday were freshman Christian Jackson in the 110 meter hurdles in another career-best time of 14.88, and the 4x100 relay team of Josh Iraci, Zak Loess, Grant Loess, and Parker Witt, finishing in 41.57, now the No. 5 time in Division III in the event.
Junior Jonah Nelson placed third in the 1500 with a time of 4:02.12. Freshman Alec Masters placed sixth in the 400 meter dash in a new career-best time of 49.44. Junior Alex Meixelsperger placed seventh in the 800, running a career-best time of 1:53.73.
In the field events, the Warhawk men were led by junior Theron Baumann, who won both the discus throw and placed third to two unattached throwers in the shot put. His discus throw mark of 168-0 (51.22 meters) moves him to No. 4 in Division III in the event. Baumann threw 55-09 (17.00 meters) in the shot put, and he still owns the top mark in Division III in the event.
Junior DuVaun Goodlow placed second in the high jump with a leap of 6-08 (2.03 meters). This season's best mark moves him to No. 11 in Division III in the event. Sophomore Matt Green placed second in the triple jump with a mark of 44-11 (13.69 meters). Green still owns a top 25 mark in Division III in the event. Sophomore Tanner Stephens was fourth with a mark of 43-01 (13.13 meters).
Coming up next for the Warhawks, the women will travel on Friday to the Augustana College Women's Viking Invite, and on Saturday, the men will compete at the Augustana College Meet of Champions. On Friday, the women's meet begins at 3 p.m., and on Saturday, the men's meet will begin at 11 a.m.
