The UW-Whitewater Men's and Women's Track and Field teams each placed second on Saturday at the UW-Oshkosh Invitational, behind several strong individual performances from both teams.
The Warhawk women's team was led by a huge, record-breaking performance from senior
Meredith Porter (Hales Corners, Wis./Whitnall) in the 400 meter dash. Porter ran a 56.69 to win the 400 meters and set a new school record, besting the record of 57.27 set by Lexie Sondgeroth in 2015. Porter's time on Saturday moves her to number two in the nation in Division III in the event.

Not far behind Porter was freshman teammate
Abbie Felton (Burlington, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran), who ran a new personal-best time of 57.33, which moves her to number six in Division III in the event. This dynamic duo sits 1-2 in the WIAC just two weeks out from the WIAC Indoor Track and Field Championship.

Freshman
Celeste Madda (Crystal Lake, Ill./Central) also had an impressive day. Madda won the 200 meter dash in 25.29, a time that moves her in to the top five in Division III In the event, and finished third in the 60 meter dash in 7.88, a time that continues to rank her in the top ten in Division III In the event. Leah Richter (Fond du Lac, Wis./Fond du Lac) ran to new personal-best times. Porter finished fourth in 26.22 and Richter finished sixth in 26.49.

The Warhawk women had a few other notable performances contributing to the 94 point second-place team finish on Saturday. Senior
Amanda Strupp (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) won the weight throw with a mark of 57-1.5 (17.41 meters). Strupp currently owns a top 15Â mark in Division III in the event. Senior
Genny Rose Stringer (Assumption, Ill./Assumption) finished in third in the same event with a season's best mark of 51-4.25 (15.65 meters). Freshman
Sydney Rossow (West Bend, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) finished second in the 60 meter hurdles in a time of 9.14. Rossow still holds a top ten time in the nation in Division III in the event.
Leah Richter (Fond du Lac, Wis./Fond du Lac) added to her strong day by placing third in the pole vault with a mark of 11-7 (3.53 meters), and she continues to have a top 20 mark in Division III In the event.
Erika Sternard (Cary, Ill./Cary-Grove) finished fourth in the high jump in a mark of 4-11 (1.50 meters), and she still ranks in the top 20 in Division III in the event.
The No. 3 ranked Warhawk men's team scored a total of 174.5 points, second only to UW-Stevens Point's 184 points, and were led by more impressive performances in the throws by senior
Levi Perry (East Moline, Ill./United Township) and junior
Theron Baumann (Monona Grove, Wis./Monona Grove). Perry threw to a huge personal best of 63-9 (19.43 meters) in the weight throw, continuing to improve upon his Division III leading mark in the event, and teammate junior
Theron Baumann (Monona Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) won the shot put with a season's best mark of 57-1 (17.40 meters), improving upon his own Division III leading mark in the event. Baumann also placed fourth in the weight throw with a career-best mark of 52-3.25 (15.93 meters).

In addition to the throwers, the men's sprinters also had a strong day. Freshman
Josh Iraci (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) won the 60 meter dash in a new personal best time of 6.90, which vaults him in to the top ten in Division III in the event. Senior
Grant Loess (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North) finished third in the same event, also setting a new personal best time of 7.04. Â Junior
Parker Witt (Appleton, Wis./Appleton North) won the 200 meter dash on Saturday in a time of 22.10, and he still sits at number four in Division III In the event. Witt also owns the number four time in all of Division III in the 60 meter dash. Freshman
Jake Schneider (Plymouth, Wis./Plymouth) finished second in the 200 meter dash and joined Witt in the top ten in Division III in the event with a new personal best time of 22.28.
Josh Iraci (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) added to his solid day with a sixth place finish in the 200 meters in a season's best time of 22.75.

Senior
DuVaun Goodlow (Plainfield, Ill./Central) won the high jump with a leap of 6-8.75 (2.05 meters). Goodlow continues to own a top ten mark in Division III in the event and is tied for the top mark in the WIAC. Also taking first on the day was junior
Noah Stamsta (Waunakee, Wis./Waunakee), winning the 5,000 meters in 15:19.78, a top ten time in the WIAC.

Junior Jason D'Amico and senior
Kyle McNeil (Geneva, Ill./Geneva Community) also contributed to the strong showing in the throws for the Warhawks, placing third and fourth in the shot put with marks of 47-11.25 (14.61 meters) and 46-11.75 (14.32 meters), respectively. D'Amico's mark was a new career-best.

In the 60 meter hurdles,
Christian Jackson (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa West) placed second in 8.40 and
Robert Martin (Bangor, Wis./Bangor) finished fourth in 8.64.

In the 800 meters, junior
Alec Meixelsperger (Middleton, Wis./Middleton) finished third in 1:57.61 and freshman
Clinten Woerishofer (Appleton, Wis./North) finished fourth in 1:57.89. In the 3,000 meters, junior
Brett Harms (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater) finished third in 8:48.59 and senior
Scott Wolter (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) placed fourth in 8:52.12.

In the pole vault, freshman
Zach Jasinski (Sussex, Wis./Hamilton) finished fifth with a new career best mark of 15-1.5 (4.61 meters). In the triple jump, a pair of freshmen,
Tanner Stephens (Nekoosa, Wis./Nekoosa) and
Keane Holzemer (Cuba City, Wis./Cuba City), finished second and fifth with indoor career-best marks of 43-0.5 (13.12 meters) and 40-11 (12.47 meters), respectively.
Coming up next, on Friday, the men's and women's throwers will compete at UW-Madison, and then on Saturday, the rest of the men's and women's squads will travel back to UW-Oshkosh for the Titan Challenge.
