Post-Event Quotes:
Head Coach Leann Sullivan
On the team's performance over the weekend:
"It was a USBC tournament. WE compete in the USBC sectionals and nationals each year. Different mindset going into those tournaments. Those aren't teams that we see all the time. Different environment in itself. Format was a little different. Overall, I felt like the team performed well. We finished sixth out of 24 varsity teams, which is good. With a younger roster, I thought they performed well. On Saturday, we had some rotation within the lineup. On Sunday, we had five consistent players all day, which was good to see. We qualified for match play, but we lost in the first round against St. Ambrose. We threw good shots."
On individuals who stood out during the tournament:
"Emma Kuhn (Texas City, Texas/Texas City), Lauren Price (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) and Kailee Tubbs (Flint, Mich./Davison). They were consistently throwing good shots. They did an amazing job adjusting to the lanes and picking up their spares. They threw every shot this weekend and were consistently 3-4-5 in the lineup this weekend."
Sophomore Kailee Tubbs (Flint, Mich./Davison)
On the team's performance over the weekend:
"With the different layout of the tournament, it was a lot about working and competing as a team. At the beginning of the second day, before we started practicing, we talked about separating our shots. We couldn't put pressure on ourselves if we missed a spare. As a team, we can communicate and believe in each other enough where we don't have to put pressure on ourselves. That was a big thing that helped our team this weekend."
On the team's plans for the next six weeks before competing again:
"With finals coming up, we don't have designated practice time. As a team, Leann has talked a lot about being held accountable and staying on top of our games for next semester. She mentioned that we should be practicing. A lot of girls, including myself, will be going above and beyond the eight hours we normally practice in a week."
Freshman Karlee Barton (Joliet, Ill./Joliet West)
On playing in a different format:
"We knew the challenges of this weekend's competition. We wanted to try an overcome that. The lane transitions were difficult, but we communicated well as a team and figured it out."
On how the tournament will help the team down the road:
"We learned a lot with how we can relate to some people on our team. Moving forward, if we eliminate the 1-2 bad games we have as a team, we can definitely excel in the future."
On the team's plans for the next six weeks before competition:
"We had a Secret Santa party this weekend. We also pulled two names from the tree in Hyland to donate gifts for the kids. We're not officially having practices, but our captains are working together to keep us working hard so we can be ready to go come January."
