Post-Event Quotes:
Head Coach Leann Sullivan
On the team's overall play at the tournament:
"It was hard for us. The quality of competition was not what we're used to. Our scores didn't reflect how well we bowled. It was a very challenging lane pattern, grueling on both days. We almost lost a couple of games, but dug deep and persevered and mentally focused on what we need to do."
On the play of Emma Kuhn (Texas City, Texas/Texas City):
"Emma finished second overall and missed being the MVP by five pins. Both days, she was a really big part of the lineup. She picked up spares and threw good first shots, so I could make adjustments with the team. She was very consistent, which she needed to be on this pattern."
Emma Kuhn (Texas City, Texas/Texas City)
On the team's ability to overcome challenges:
"It was a super tough pattern. We all had to work together to pull it off. We've been working on communication within the team and working off each other to make good shots, and it was great to adjust and do what we did."
On her own individual play:
"I feel like I did really well at repeating shots and picking up spares, and just being consistent and being there when I needed to. Moving forward, I'll continue to work hard at practice at repeating shots, being consistent, being comfortable and staying calm. When there's a solid person who's on their game, that helps keep everyone else calm."
Sarah Paasch (Sheboygan, Wis./Sheboygan North)
On the team's play and overcoming the challenging lane pattern:
"This year, one big thing that is great about our team is that we all work together. We're team oriented. Everyone is ready to come in when we need it. That was really key. It was challenging this weekend. Everyone was there for each other and ready when needed."
On the impact of this tournament win moving forward:
"This weekend gave us confidence. Being a younger team that lost some really great seniors, we needed that confidence to know we could win against different teams. We needed overcome a challenging experience, and this gave us a good boost going into next weekend. When it comes down to a couple pins at the end, we now know we can persevere and win the matches."
