The UW-Whitewater Women's Track and Field team won the competitive Warhawk Classic Invitational on Saturday at the Katchel Fieldhouse in the Williams Center, capping off an impressive weekend of action for the Warhawks. The Warhawk women scored 135 points to take the title over second place UW-Stevens Point (112 points)Â and third place University of Chicago (102 points). A total of ten teams competed in the meet.

Senior
Meredith Porter (Hales Corners, Wis./Whitnall) and freshman
Abbie Felton (Burlington, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) led the way for the Warhawks, going 1-2 in the 400 meter dash. Porter ran 57.66, a new career best and good for second in the nation in Division III. Felton finished in 58.03, setting a new personal best by over a second. Her time currently puts her in the top five in Division III in the event. Â The duo of Porter and Felton also teamed up with freshman
Ashley Tijerina (West Chicago, Ill./West Chicago) and sophomore
Tiffany Bianco (Brookfield, Wis./East) to place second in the 4x400 relay, posting a time of 4:06.34.

Also shining bright for the Warhawks was sophomore
Celeste Madda (Crystal Lake, Ill./Central). Madda won the 200 meter dash in an indoor best of 25.32, a time that vaults her in to the top five in Division III in the event. Earlier in the day, Madda, who currently owns the number two time in Division III in the 60 meter dash, placed second in that event in a time of 7.83. Â

Freshman
Sydney Rossow (West Bend, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) turned in outstanding performances in the 60 meter hurdles and the triple jump. Rossow won the 60 meter hurdles in 9.03, and this time currently places her in to the top five in Division III in the event. She finished third in the triple jump with a mark of 36-00.25 (10.98 meters).

The Warhawks also had several top performances in the field events. Junior
Erika Sternard (Cary, Ill./Cary-Grove) tied her personal best in winning the high jump with a leap of 5'5" (1.65 meters). This is a top 20 mark in the nation in Division III. Senior
Leah Richter (Fond du Lac, Wis./Fond du Lac) won the pole vault in a new personal best mark of 11-11.75 (3.65 meters). This performance places her in the top 15 in Division III in the event. Senior
Amanda Strupp (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) won the weight throw with a mark of 56-11.50 (17.36 meters) a mark which put her in to the top 10 in Division III in the event.

Mallory Schroeder (Pardeeville, Wis./Pardeeville), and sophomore
Jordan Tokarski (Oconomowoc, Wis./Kettle Moraine) took fourth in the 4x200 meter relay in a time of 1:54.25.

Megan Linse (Jefferson, Wis./Jefferson) finished fourth in the long jump with a mark of 16-11.50 (5.17 meters). Senior
Kaylee Raucci (South Elgin, Ill./St. Charles North) placed sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 34-01.50 (10.40 meters). Junior
Lindsay Chase (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater) finished sixth in the weight throw with a season's best mark of 48-11.50 (14.92 meters).

The UW-Whitewater women's track and field team, likely to be ranked nationally by the USTFCCCA this week after their impressive team win on Saturday, travel next weekend to UW-Stevens Point for the Pointer Invitational.
