The No. 14 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater bowling team is in eighth place after the first day of the three-day Kutztown Invitational at Hiester Lanes in Reading, Pa.
 
The Warhawks posted a 4-2 record in six 5-game Baker matches. The team accumulated a total pinfall of 5,717, good for an average of 190.6 per Baker game. No. 6 Vanderbilt is in first place with a total of 6,287.
 
UW-Whitewater started the day with a 917-914 triumph over No. 21 St. Francis Brooklyn before falling 980-930 against 13th-ranked LIU Brooklyn. The team quickly rebounded with a 1000-953 victory over No. 17 Franklin Pierce, then was narrowly defeated 937-913 by Lincoln Memorial.
 
The Warhawks capped the day with wins over Morgan State (1024-789) and 18th-ranked Adelphi (933-816).
