Coming off its lone bye week of the season, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater football team wraps up non-conference play this Saturday, Sept. 24, at 1 p.m. against Morningside College (Iowa) on Hall of Fame and Alumni Day at Perkins Stadium.

A
pregame tailgate is scheduled for 11 a.m. on game day at the Coulthart Family Pavilion. All fans, including guests for Hall of Fame Day and Alumni Day, are welcome to attend. The Ripple Effect (Palmyra, WI) will play live at the pavilion, sponsored by Phi Chi Epsilon.
The
UW-Whitewater Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2016 and all
returning alumni will be recognized on the field at halftime of Saturday's contest.

The Warhawks tallied 52 unanswered points after trailing 13-7 in the second quarter to defeat Belhaven (Miss.) by a 59-13 score. UW-Whitewater piled up 673 yards of total offense, the most in one game since 2005, and rushed for 476 yards, the most in at least a decade. The defense forced eight turnovers, including six interceptions and two fumbles.
UW-Whitewater moved up one spot to No. 2 in the latest D3football.com Top 25, garnering 587 points and two first-place votes. The team made its debut in the American Football Coaches Association Division III Coaches Poll at No. 2 with 986 points and three first-place votes. The Warhawks were ranked second in Lindy's Sports Division III Preseason Top 25 and third in both The Sporting News' preseason national rankings and the D3football.com Preseason Top 25.
Morningside, a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, totaled 49 first-quarter points and 70 in the first half en route to an 87-14 victory over Dordt on the road in Sioux Center, Iowa. The Mustangs finished with 643 total yards, including 387 on the ground, and scored two defensive touchdowns off two of their seven turnovers forced.

Saturday's game is the second meeting between the two teams. A six-yard run by Jordan Ratliffe (Milwaukee/Milwaukee Vincent)Â with 38 seconds to play capped an eight-play, 75-yard, game-winning drive to help the Warhawks to a 33-30 win on Sept. 24, 2015, at Morningside. Chris Nelson (Twin Lakes/Wilmot Union)'s 54-yard touchdown pass that deflected off a defender to Tony Gumina (Sussex, Wis./Hamilton) was the No. 2 play that night on ESPN SportsCenter's Top 10 Plays.

UW-Whitewater opens Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play next Saturday, Oct. 1, at 10th-ranked UW-Platteville. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
NOTABLE
- The Warhawks carry a 12-game regular season non-conference win streak into Saturday's game. Since the start of the 2009 season, UW-Whitewater owns a 48-2 record in all non-conference games, including a 28-1 mark in the NCAA Division III Playoffs.
- Saturday's game marks the fourth straight season UW-Whitewater will face an NAIA opponent and the eighth time in the last eight years - Morningside 2015; Waldorf 2013-14; Campbellsville 2010-11; Midland Lutheran & Dickinson State 2009; St. Xavier 2008). The Warhawks are 8-0 in games against NAIA opponents during that span.
