The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's track and field team placed third Sunday at the Rex Foster Invitational, the team's first outdoor meet of the season, at Rex Foster Track.
 
The Warhawks recorded 214 points, just behind first-place Northern Michigan (239), a Division II school, and runner-up UW-Oshkosh (215).
 
Freshman Celeste Madda (Crystal Lake, Ill./Central) won the 200-meter dash (25.42 seconds) and placed second in the 100-meter dash (12.35) to lead UW-Whitewater. Junior Genny Rose Stringer (Assumption, Ill./Assumption) claimed the discus with a mark of 139-00 (42.37 meters) and placed third in the shot put with a 41-10.00 (12.75 meters).
 
Seniors Amy Kahl (Huntley, Ill./Huntley) and Candice Wayne (West Bend, Wis./West) also won events. Kahl was first in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:54.45, while Wayne claimed the 400-meter hurdles with a result of 1:04.83.
 
Senior Tyler Henderson (Madison, Wis./Verona) was the runner-up in the triple jump with a mark of 36-04.75 (11.09 meters).
 
UW-Whitewater continues action Saturday at the UW-Platteville Invitational at 11 a.m.
