The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's track and field team capped a seventh-place finish Saturday on the second and final day of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships at UW-Oshkosh.
 
The Warhawks totaled 50.5 points, just 7.5 shy of sixth-place UW-Platteville.
 
Junior Amanda Strupp (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) earned All-WIAC status in the weight throw with a runner-up finish after posting a toss of 56-11.25 (17.35 meters). Junior Genny Rose Stringer (Assumption, Ill./Assumption) also scored points in the event, placing eighth with a 53-09.00 (16.38 meters).
 
Senior Candice Wayne (West Bend, Wis./West), sophomore Morgan McCuen (Franklin, Wis./Franklin), juniors Meredith Heller (Hales Corners, Wis./Whitnall) and Leah Richter (Fond du Lac, Wis./Fond du Lac) combined for an all-conference finish of third place with a school-record time of 3:54.95 in the 4x400-meter relay. The previous record of 3:55.68 was established in 2012.
 
Senior Amy Kahl (Huntley, Ill./Huntley) placed fourth in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:22.02. Freshman Brianna Frey (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) was fifth in the 60-meter dash with a team season-best mark of 7.84, and senior Tyler Henderson (Madison, Wis./Verona) registered a team season-best of 37-04.50 (11.39 meters) in the triple jump to finish fifth in the event.
 
The Warhawks look to post national qualifying results next weekend at a pair of "last chance" meets. The team visits UW-Platteville Friday and UW-Stevens Point on Saturday.
