Warhawks Move into Fifth Place after Day Two of Warhawk Classic

Kenosha, Wis. – The No. 7 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's bowling team moved up to fifth overall through two days of competition at the Warhawk Classic.
 
The Warhawks bounced back from a disappointing day one to go undefeated on day two in five traditional team matches. UW-Whitewater's cumulative score of 9,774 was 56 pins shy of No. 6 McKendree University who is currently in fourth place.
 
No. 2 University of Nebraska-Lincoln leads the tournament with a total of 10,293.
 
UW-Whitewater opened the morning by defeating the tournament leader by a score of 1,139-1,104. In the match junior Amanda VanDuyn (Kenosha, Wis./Kenosha Bradford) bowled a 279 game which is tied for the second highest game in program history. In their next match of the day against Tulane University, the Warhawks won by a score of 1,092-898.
 
The Warhawks defeated No. 17 Valparaiso University in a close match by a score of 868-828. If the fourth match of the day against No. 12 St. Francis University (Pa.) the Warhawks won by a score of 912-838. In the final and closest match of the day UW-Whitewater defeated No. 20 Adelphi University (N.Y.) by a score of 989-946.
 
Action resumes tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m. Central Standard Time with three matches in the championship bracket. Check back tomorrow afternoon to see how the Warhawks finished in the tournament.
