Bowling to Host Warhawk Classic Starting Friday

The No. 7 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater bowling team will host the three-day, 10-team Warhawk Classic this Friday through Sunday at Sheridan Lanes on 1120 80th Street in Kenosha, Wis.
 
Admission to the tournament, which includes a field of NCAA women's bowling teams, is free.
 
The Warhawks are one of 10 teams in the field ranked among the top 25 in the latest National Tenpin Coaches Association national rankings. Other competing teams include No. 2 Nebraska, No. 5 Central Missouri, No. 6 McKendree (Ill.), No. 8 Stephen F. Austin (Texas), No. 12 St. Francis (Pa.), No. 17 Valparaiso (Ind.), No. 20 Adelphi (N.Y.), No. 21 Tulane (La.) and No. 25 Elmhurst (Ill.).
 
Play begins Friday at 11 a.m. with five sets of Baker total pinfall games, continues Saturday at 8:30 a.m. with five sets of traditional team games and concludes Sunday at 8:30 a.m. with three sets of best-of-seven Baker matches.
 
UW-Whitewater has earned three consecutive bids to the NCAA Championship, which includes all divisions. The Warhawks have placed third in each of the last two years.
 
Head coach Leann Sullivan is in her fifth season at the helm of the program. She is a two-time NTCA Division II/III Coach of the Year.
 
UW-Whitewater enters the weekend with a record of 44-34, competing primarily against the nation's top teams.
