The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's and women's swimming and diving teams wrapped up competition at the Wheaton College Invitational Saturday evening. The Warhawk men finished in fourth place, while the women's team placed third overall.
The men's team finished with a team score of 582, while the women finished with 661.5 points. Washington University-St. Louis won the invite for the men and women.
Senior
Alex Carroll (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) highlighted the Warhawk men's showing, finishing second in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:06.19. Senior
Dan Bielski (Chanhassen, Minn./Minnetonka) placed second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 51.48. Bielski also teamed up with sophomore

Andrew Staszak (Franklin/Greendale) placed eighth overall in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 16:51.34, while
Josh Kanute (Geneva, Ill./Marmion Academy) placed sixth in the 200-yard freestyle with a 1:44.62.

Michaela Matthys (Crystal Lake, Ill./McHenry West) highlighted the Warhawks with first and second place finishes. Matthys placed first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.33 and took second in 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.37. Matthys also teamed up with senior
Grace Devine (Sussex/Hamilton), and sophomores
Vada Williams (La Crescent, Minn./Holmen-Aquinas-Onalaska (Wis.)) and
Alyssa Haertl (Oshkosh, Wis./West) to place third in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:38.96.
Sophomore
Erin Hawker (Chanhassen, Minn./Hutchinson) took second in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:37.70. Hawker also placed fourth overall in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:27.53. Hawker joined Devine, Williams, and senior

UW-Whitewater will travel to Puerto Rico for a training trip on January 1st. The Warhawks return to competition on January 21st where they will take on Lake Forest and Lawrence in Lake Forest, Ill.
