The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed against UW-Stevens Point in a WIAC Conference dual meet at the Williams Center Pool.
 
The Men were defeated by a score of 93-206, while the women picked up a win by a 200-93 margin.
 
Junior Michaela Matthys (Crystal Lake, Ill./McHenry West) won three events and was on a first-place relay team to lead the women. Matthys placed first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:08.50, 50-yard freestyle in a time of 24.94, and the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 57:72.
 
Matthys also teamed with seniors Sarah Arteaga (Greenfield/Whitnall) and Grace Devine (Sussex/Hamilton), and sophomore Melanie Carlson (Waukesha, Wis./West) to win the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 4:08.74. Devine teamed with senior Margaret Lotzer (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove) and sophomores Erin Hawker (Chanhassen, Minn./Hutchinson) and Vada Williams (La Crescent, Minn./Holmen-Aquinas-Onalaska (Wis.)) to claim first in a time of 3:46.60.
 
Other individual event winners included seniors Lotzer, Arteaga, and Mckenzie Asplund, junior Stephanie Haebig (Grafton/Grafton), and freshman Meredith Gustafson (Brookfield, Wis./East), Bailey Weston (Fort Atkinson, Wis./Fort Atkinson), and Alexis Olson (Marengo, Ill./Marengo).
 
Lotzer won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:00.30 and they 500-yard freestyle in a mark of 5:25.47. Arteaga won two events as well, she claimed the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:12.45 and the 400-yard individual medley in a time of 4:48.08. Asplund took the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:29.58, while Haebig claimed the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:04.18. Gustafson won the 200-yard butterfly in a mark of 2:16.93. Weston took the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 55.94 and Olson won the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:40.42.
 
Senior Dan Bielski (Chanhassen, Minn./Minnetonka) won two events, while placing second in another to lead the men's team. Bielski claimed first in both backstroke events, while taking second in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 53.65.
 
Junior Steven Missak (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North) placed second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 48:70. Missak also placed 3^rd in the 200-yard freestyle with a mark of 1:48.57.

Missak joined seniors Paul Hill (Jefferson/Fort Atkinson), Alex Gidlow (Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley) and sophomore Jonathan Jaworski (Waukesha, Wis./South) to place second in the 400-Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 3:15.22.
 
Freshman diver Michael Steplyk (Pleasant Prairie, Wis./LakeView Technology Academy) placed fourth in the 3-meter dive with a score of 168.17, and took second in the 1-meter dive with a final score of 219.84.
