The No. 9 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater bowling team will host the three-day, 17-team Warhawk Classic presented by Roto Grip this Friday through Sunday at Sheridan Lanes on 1120 80th Street in Kenosha, Wis.
Admission to the tournament, which includes a field of NCAA women's bowling teams, is free.
The Warhawks are one of 13 teams in the field ranked among the top 25 in the latest National Tenpin Coaches Association national rankings. Other competing teams include No. 1 Nebraska, No. 2 Stephen F. Austin (Texas), No. 3 Arkansas State, No. 4 Vanderbilt (Tenn.), No. 5 McKendree (Ill.), No. 10 Fairleigh Dickinson (N.J.), No. 13 LIU Brooklyn (N.Y.), No. 14 Sacred Heart (Conn.), No. 15 St. Francis (Pa.), No. 19 Adelphi (N.Y.), No. 21 Valparaiso (Ind.) and No. 25 Elmhurst (Ill.).
Play begins Friday at 11 a.m. with five sets of Baker total pinfall games, continues Saturday at 9:35 a.m. with five sets of traditional team games and concludes Sunday at 8 a.m. with best-of-seven Baker matches.
UW-Whitewater has made three trips in the last four years to the NCAA Championship, which includes all divisions. The Warhawks placed third in the nation in 2014 and 2015.
Head coach
Leann Sullivan is in her sixth season at the helm of the program. She is a two-time NTCA Division II/III Coach of the Year.
UW-Whitewater enters the weekend with a record of 14-9, competing primarily against the nation's top teams.
