The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's tennis team cemented a decade of success after claiming its 10th consecutive conference title Sunday afternoon at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Championship presented by Culver's at Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison.
 
The Warhawks, who recorded their 17th league championship in program history, won five of six singles flights and all three doubles draws.
 
The team championship is determined by using a combination of the regular season dual meet standings and the WIAC Championship results. The finish in the regular season accounts for one-third of the criteria, while the conference tournament comprises the remaining two-thirds.
 
UW-Whitewater finished with 21 points, including seven with a 6-0 regular season dual meet record and 14 from the tournament title.
 
Juniors Alexandra Talyansky (Mequon/Homestead) and Brittany Goebel (McHenry, IL/West) picked up the first championships of the day at Nos. 3 and 5 singles, respectively. Talyansky downed UW-La Crosse in her final for the third singles championship of her career, and Goebel knocked off top-seeded Maura Andersen of UW-La Crosse in straight sets for her first career singles title.
 
Senior Rachel Siemon (Crystal Lake, IL/South) finished as runner-up in the No. 6 draw, falling in a three-set contest in her final against UW-Eau Claire.
 
Senior Megan Humphreys (Kenosha/Tremper) claimed her second championship at No. 1 singles and third overall for her career, besting UW-La Crosse's Bridget Bellissimo 6-2, 6-1 in the title match. Junior Jillian Wallace (Crystal Lake, IL/Central) followed suit with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph over UW-Eau Claire's Molly Stewart at No. 4 for her third career singles championship.
 
Sophomore Gabi Kitchell (Wausau, Wis./D.C. Everest) gave the Warhawks their fifth singles title and her second career championship with a 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 victory over Natalie Wijesinghe of UW-Eau Claire.
 
Goebel and Siemon combined for an 8-6 win in the No. 3 doubles final over UW-Eau Claire for each of their first career doubles titles.
 
Talyansky and Wallace were next on the board with an 8-3 triumph over UW-La Crosse in the second flight, and Humphreys and Kitchell closed out UW-Whitewater's day with an 8-4 victory over UW-Eau Claire in the No. 1 draw.
 
Following play, Humphreys was named to the WIAC All-Sportsmanship Team and was selected as the WIAC Women's Tennis Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete.
 
With the championship, the Warhawks will host the WIAC Final Four AQ Tournament, played among the top four teams in the standings on April 29. The winner of that tournament earns the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Team Tournament in May.
