Bowling Places Second at Crusader Classic

The No. 9 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's bowling team took second place out of six teams at the Valparaiso University Crusader Classic in Valparaiso, Ind.
 
The Warhawks finished with a 3-2 record on the second day of competition of five team matches. UW-Whitewater finished the weekend with a 6-4 record and a cumulative score of 9,159 pins. No. 5 McKendree University finished first overall on the weekend.
 
After opening the day with a victory over Aurora University 980-824, UW-Whitewater was defeated by No. 21 Valparaiso University by a score of 863-983.
 
In the third match of the day, the Warhawks were downed by McKendree by a score of 857-995. UW-Whitewater closed out the tournament on a high note by winning their final two matches of the day. The Warhawks defeated No. 25 Elmhurst College 979-793, and Maryville University (Mo.) by a score of 997-876.
 
At the conclusion of the tournament senior Taylor Hoppe (Rockford, Ill./Thomas Jefferson) was named to the All-Tournament Team. Hoppe finished third overall for the tournament.
 
UW-Whitewater will be back in action next weekend as they travel to North Brunswick, New Jersey for the Fairleigh Dickinson University Jamboree on Oct. 28-30th.
