Related Links:Results The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's track and field team placed second at the 11-team Warhawk Classic Invitational at Kachel Fieldhouse.
The Warhawks collected 109 points, just one-half point behind the University of Chicago.
Senior
Tyler Henderson (Madison, Wis./Verona) and junior
Amanda Strupp (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) each won events to lead UW-Whitewater.
Henderson placed first in the triple jump with a 36-02.75 (11.04m), while Strupp won the weight throw with a toss of 58-03.00 (17.75m).
Juniors
Kaylee Raucci (South Elgin, Ill./St. Charles North) and junior
Liberty Wieseman (Lake Geneva, Wis./Badger) joined Henderson and Strupp among the top five in their respective events. Raucci was fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 34-06.75 (10.53m), while Wieseman was fourth in the weight throw with a 51-03.00 (15.62m).
Wieseman added a fourth-place finish in the shot put with a toss of 40-02.75 (12.26m).
The Warhawks placed three among the top five in the 400-meter dash. Senior
Candice Wayne (West Bend, Wis./West) was third with a time of 59.22. Junior
Leah Richter (Fond du Lac, Wis./Fond du Lac) crossed the finish line in 59.48, good for fourth place, and junior
Meredith Heller (Hales Corners, Wis./Whitnall) was fifth with a result of 59.67.
Freshman
LaBreya Johnson (Beloit, Wis./Memorial) and sophomore
Morgan McCuen (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) finished among the top five in the long jump. Johnson tallied a 17-02.75 (5.25m), good for second place, and McCuen registered a 16-08.75 (5.10m), good for fifth.
Sophomore
Erika Sternard (Cary, Ill./Cary-Grove) was the runner-up in the high jump with a result of 5-05.00 (1.65m).
Other top-five finishers included freshman
Brianna Frey (Muskego, Wis./Muskego), senior
Amy Kahl (Huntley, Ill./Huntley) and sophomore
Carly Manning (Wauwatosa, Wis./East). Frey was fourth in the 60-meter dash (7.90), Kahl was fifth in the 3,000-meter run (10:45.16) and Manning was fifth in the pentathlon (2464).
Wayne, Heller, Richter and freshman
Tiffany Bianco (Brookfield, Wis./East) combined to place fourth in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:02.48.
UW-Whitewater continues action next Saturday at the Pointer Invite. Events are slated to begin at 10:30 a.m. in Stevens Point.
