The Warhawks (16-1 overall) downed Kalamazoo (Mich.), which is ranked 10th in the Central Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, by a 6-3 count.
In its second match of the day, UW-Whitewater, which is sixth in the region, fell against No. 23 Case Western Reserve (Ohio), the region's fifth-ranked team, by a 6-3 score.
Against Kalamazoo (8-5), the Warhawks took two of three doubles matches for a 2-1 lead. Freshmen
Bridgid McGuire (Slinger/Slinger) and
Alexandra Talyansky (Mequon/Homestead) combined for an 8-5 triumph at No. 2, while the third doubles pair of junior captain
Ashley Miller (Racine/Union Grove) and freshman
Alicia Beck (Bismarck, ND/St. Mary's Central) combined for an 8-1 win.

Jillian Wallace (Crystal Lake, IL/Central) were the first to finish in singles. Wallace tallied a 6-3, 6-1 victory at the No. 4 position, while Talyansky was a 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-6) winner at the third slot.
Senior
Amanda Dick (Kenosha/St. Joseph Catholic Academy) clinched the match for UW-Whitewater at No. 6, posting a 6-0, 6-1 triumph. Sophomore
Rachel Siemon (Crystal Lake, IL/South) accounted for the final margin with a 6-4, 6-4 victory at the sixth spot.
The Warhawks also took two of three doubles matches against Case Western Reserve (9-4). Wallace and junior
Megan Humphreys (Kenosha/Tremper) started the team with an 8-4 win at No. 1. McGuire and Talyansky gave UW-Whitewater the lead heading into singles play with a 9-8 (2) triumph at the second position.
Wallace continued her strong day in singles play, posting a 7-5, 6-0 victory at the No. 4 position.
Humphreys won the first set against Nithyga Kanagasegar, the region's No. 4 player, at No. 1 singles, but was outlasted in a third-set super-tiebreaker.
The Warhawks continue play at the Midwest Invitational tomorrow against Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.), the No. 11 team in the Central Region. First serve is slated for 8 a.m. at Cherokee Country Club in Madison.
