Warhawks Place Fourth at the Big Red Invitational

The No. 1/7 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater bowling team placed fourth overall at the Big Red Invite over the weekend in Lincoln, Neb.
 
The Warhawks tallied a 3-1 record on the third day of competition, and 9-5 on the weekend. Today consisted of four traditional team matches. UW-Whitewater placed third on the final day with a total of 4,099 pins. Their weekend total was 13,920 which was 12 pins shy of third place.
 
The University of Nebraska won the invitational with a total of 14,494 pins.
 
After opening the day with a victory over Mckendree 939-1043, UW-Whitewater downed Lincoln University 743-1,037.
 
The Warhawks were then defeated 1,123-970 against Nebraska, but rebounded one match later to close out the tournament with a victory over No. 8 Central Missouri 1,013-1,049.
 
At the conclusion of play Lindsay Rusch (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly) was named to the All-Tournament Team.

UW-Whitewater also sent two teams to the Leatherneck Classic in Moline, Ill. The Warhawks are 11th out of 23 teams in the varsity standings nad sixth of eight in the JV draw. Sage Greenwood (Kenosha, Wis./Kenosha Bradford) led the varsity team with a 204.5 average, while Paige Mayer (Appleton, Wis./Appleton North) led the JVs with a 174.2.
 
UW-Whitewater will return to action January 15-17 at the Mid-Winter Classic in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
