Bowling Third After First Day of Big Red Invite

The No. 1/7 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater bowling team stands in third out of eight teams through one day of competition at the Big Red Invite in Lincoln, Neb.
 
The Warhawks tallied a 2-2 record on the opening day of four-game Baker matches. UW-Whitewater's cumulative score of 4,088 was just 62 shy of the University of Central Missouri who is currently in second place.
 
No. 2 Arkansas State leads the tournament with a total of 4,223.
 
After opening the day with a victory over No. 15 Valparaiso 874-1,002, UW-Whitewater was downed by No. 6 Sam Houston State 1,099-1,002.
 
The Warhawks were then defeated 1,068-952 against No. 2 Arkansas State, but rebounded one match later with a 948-1,058 triumph over No. 9 McKendree.
 
Tournament Play resumes Friday at 9:00 a.m. Central Time with six traditional team matches.
