Megan Humphreys (Kenosha/Tremper) placed fifth in the singles draw of the United States Tennis Association/Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Small College Championships and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's tennis team extended its conference win streak to 70 matches Saturday.
Humphreys, competing in the eight-player tournament in Sumter, S.C., after claiming the USTA/ITA Midwest Region singles title for the third consecutive season, finished fifth with a 6-4, 7-6 (3) triumph over Joy Kim of Pomona-Pitzer (Calif.). She now owns a career record of 6-3 at the national championships and placed fifth in 2013 and second in 2014.
The Warhawks (11-0 overall, 6-0 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) also hosted a pair of league matches Saturday, downing UW-Stout and UW-River Falls by identical 9-0 scores.
With the victories, UW-Whitewater extended its WIAC win streak to 70 matches, a span that covers nine seasons.

Gabi Kitchell (Wausau, Wis./D.C. Everest) were all winners in both singles and doubles against UW-Stout (4-7, 1-5).
The same six competed against UW-River Falls (0-8, 0-6) with the same results.
The Warhawks begin play in the two-day WIAC Championship next Saturday at 12:40 p.m. at Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison.
