Sondgeroth's School Record Leads Warhawk Women Friday

Individuals from the UW-Whitewater women's track and field team competed in the UW-La Crosse Eagle Open Friday. Lexie Sondgeroth (Rochelle, IL/Township) led the women's contingent with a school record in the 400 meter dash. She was the first to cross the finish line recording a time of 55.48 to break a record that has stood for 29 years. Liz Greathouse last set the record in 1985 with a time of 56.71. No team scores were kept in the meet.

Candice Wayne (West Bend/West) and Tyler Henderson (Madison/Verona) added third place finishes for UW-W. Wayne was clocked in 1:05.27 in the 400 meter hurdles and Henderson leapt 35-10.50 in the triple jump. Aisha Coleman (Janesville/Craig) finished right behind Henderson in the triple jump with a distance of 34-6.75 for fourth. 

Genny Rose Stringer (Assumption, IL/Assumption) finished fifth in the the discus with a throw of 141-06.  That throw is a season best for Stringer and lands her 20th on the NCAA DIII honor roll.

Amber Athey (Adams/Adams-Friendship) added a sixth place finish in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:09.06. Shelby Mahr (Boyd/Stanley-Boyd) finished seventh in the hammer throw with a distance of 166-02 and Lacy Beck (Hebron, IL/Alden-Hebron) threw the javelin 97-04 to wrap up the top eight finishers for the Warhawk women in the meet.
