Sondgeroth and Mahr Lead Women to Fourth

Saturday Recap
Lexie Sondgeroth (Rochelle, IL/Township) and Shelby Mahr (Boyd/Stanley-Boyd) combined to score 32 points on Saturday to lead the UW-W women's track and field team to a fourth place finish out of nine teams at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship in Oshkosh.

Sondgerorth won the 200 meter dash, for the second year in a row, in a season best time of 24.49 seconds.  That time is currently ranked fifth in the nation.  She also finished third in the 100 meters with a time of 11.96, another season best.  Sondgeroth finished third in the high jump Friday to total 22 points in the meet.
 
Shelby Mahr (Boyd/Stanley-Boyd), who finished second in the discus on Friday, added two more second place finishes on Saturday.  Mahr recorded throws of 14.16 meters in the shot put and 52.01 meters in the hammer throw.  Mahr was the top point-getter for UW-W at the meet earning 24 overall.
 
Amanda Brom (Jefferson/Jefferson) also notched a second place finish with a time of 2:12.77 in the 800 meters.
 
UW-W got third place finishes from Meredith Heller (Hales Corners/Whitnall) (400 meter hurdles – 1:05.17) and Amy Miskowicz (Woodstock, IL/Marion Central Catholic) (shot put – 13.58 meters).  Candice Wayne (West Bend/West) finished right behind Heller in the hurdles with a fourth place finish in a time of 1:05.30.
 
The 4x100 meter relay team of Aisha Coleman (Janesville/Craig), Jennifer Rathsack (Plymouth/Plymouth), Haley Precia (Menomonee Falls/Menomonee Falls), and Beth Dreikosen (Sheboygan/North) finished fifth in a time of 50.03 to add four points to UW-W's team score, and the 4x400 meter relay team of Dreikosen, Brooke Linse (Jefferson/Jefferson), Wayne, and Brom finished sixth in a time of 4:01.82.
 
Megan Linse (Jefferson/Jefferson) finished sixth in the 100 meter hurdles with a season best time of 14.79.
 
Coleman and Tyler Henderson (Madison/Verona) finished 7-8 in the triple jump with distances of 11.21 meters and 11.03 meters respectively.

The women have several more meets, and chances to qualify for the national meet, before the NCAA DIII Championships in Delaware, Ohio on May 22-24.


Friday Recap
4x800 Sets School Record; Women 5th After Day One

The women's 4x800 relay team of Lauren Mosher (Sleepy Hollow, IL/Dundee Crown), Megan Buse (Franklin/Oak Creek), Amanda Brom (Jefferson/Jefferson), and Jacky Rowe (Wheaton, IL/North) set a school record clocking a 9:34.43 at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship Friday in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.  The relay team finished fifth to earn four team points for UW-W who currently resides in fifth place out of nine teams after day one.

Shelby Mahr (Boyd/Stanley-Boyd) was the top point getter for UW-W on day one of competition finishing second in the hammer throw with a distance of 52.01 meters.

UW-W also tallied three, third place finishes Friday.  Amy Kahl (Huntley, IL/Huntley) took third in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:44.89, Melanie Pilon (Waukesha/South) earned a third place finish in the pole vault with a height of 3.53 meters, and Lexie Sondgeroth (Rochelle, IL/Township) finished third in the long jump with a distance of 5.70 meters.

UW-W has 30 points after day one.  The team standings are as follows:

The Warhawks also had one runner qualify in each of the 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, 800 meter run, 100 meter hurdles, and the 400 meter hurdles.  Those races along many field events allow the Warhawks many opportunities to make up ground on Saturday when competition concludes.
