Warhawk Women Fourth at Pointer Invite

STEVENS POINT, Wis. - The UW-Whitewater women's track and field team finished fourth of eleven teams in the Pointer Invitational Saturday. UW-W won five events in the competition.

Shelby Mahr (Boyd/Stanley-Boyd) led the Warhawks with two top finishes Saturday. Mahr tossed the shot put 43-3, the best in the competition. She heaved the weight throw 58-3 to win the event and record the third longest throw in Division III so far this season. Amy Miskowicz (Woodstock, IL/Marion Central Catholic) finished third in both events behind Mahr with a shot put distance of 40-9.75 and a distance of 49-7.75 in the weight throw.

Melanie Pilon (Waukesha/South) posted the seventh highest pole vault in Division III this season, 12-2.25, to win the event. Tyler Henderson (Madison/Verona) added another win for the Warhawks in the field events with a leap of 36-4.75 in the triple jump. Teammate Kaylee Raucci (South Elgin, IL/St. Charles North) was fifth in the event with a distance of 34-4.25.

Megan Linse (Jefferson/Jefferson) was the top finisher in the track events crossing the line second in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.14. Henderson was eighth with a time of 8.72.

In the relays, the Warhawks' 4x400 relay team recorded the fastest time in the competition, 4:02.64. UW-W added a second place finish in the distance medley relay with a time of 13:09.33.

Team results were: UW-Stevens Point (152.90), UW-Eau Claire (125), Winona State (113.20), UW-Whitewater (95), UW-Stout (72.70), Lawrence (25), Ripon (23.50), Edgewood (12.50), Stevens Point Alum (10), Wisconsin Track Club (4) and UW-Oshkosh (4). 

Next up for the Warhawks: UW-W will travel to Oshkosh to compete in the WIAC Quad February 15 hosted by UW-Oshkosh.
