NAPERVILLE, Ill - The UW-Whitewater Women's track and field team finished second in the NCC Cardinal Classic, Friday at North Central College.
The Warhawks won four events and swept the top three spots in the triple jump.
Shelby Mahr (Boyd/Stanley-Boyd) won both the weight throw and the shot put and
Jennifer Rathsack (Plymouth/Plymouth) had two top-five finishes.
The 4x400 relay team of
Candice Wayne (West Bend/West),
Beth Dreikosen (Sheboygan/North),
Amanda Brom (Jefferson/Jefferson) and
Lexie Sondgeroth (Rochelle, IL/Township) came in first with a time of 3:58.64, winning by nearly eight seconds.
Rathsack finished second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.74 and third in the 400 with a 1:00.32. Wayne also finished fifth in the 400 with a 1:00.47.
In the 60 meter hurdles
Megan Linse (Jefferson/Jefferson) was runner-up with a 9.17 and
Tyler Henderson (Madison/Verona) notched a top-five finish with a 9.60.
Mary Kate Bernier (Racine/Case) finished fourth in the 3,000 with a 11:39.68 and
Megan Buse (Franklin/Oak Creek) ran a 2:22.60 in the 800, good for fifth.
In the field events, the Warhawks took the top four of the top spots in the triple jump with Henderson taking top honors with a distance of 11.14 meters (36-6.75).
Aisha Coleman (Janesville/Craig) was runner-up with a jump of 10.85 meters (35-7.25) and
Kaylee Raucci (South Elgin, IL/St. Charles North) was third with a 10.76 meter (35-3.75) jump. Wayne rounded out the top-five with a jump of 10.13 meters (33-3).Â
Mahr won both the shot put with a toss of 13.88 meters (45-6.5) and the weight throw with a distance of 17.56 meters (57-7.5).
Amy Miskowicz (Woodstock, IL/Marion Central Catholic) was second in the shot put with a throw of 12.59 meters (41-3.75) and second in the weight throw with a 15.94 meter (52-7.5) toss.
Whitewater will compete in the WIAC Indoor Championships that will take place on Friday and Saturday in the Kachel Fieldhouse.
