Warhawk Women Win Karl Schlender to Open Indoor Season

WHITEWATER, Wis. - The Warhawk women's track and field team opened the 2014 indoor season with a first place finish in the Karl Schlender Invitational in a seven team field in the Kachel Fieldhouse. UW-Whitewater won seven events in the invite.

Team results were: UW-W 200, Aurora 134.5, Northern Michigan 88, Olivet Nazarene 72, Judson 57.5, Beloit 33 and Greater Milwaukee Track Club 9.

Lexie Sondgeroth (Rochelle, IL/Township) won two events in the meet, one track and one field event. Sondgeroth posted a time of 26.32 to win the 200 meter dash and recorded a jump of 18-3.75 to win the long jump competition.

The Warhawks went 1-2-3 in the 400 meter dash. Jennifer Rathsack (Plymouth/Plymouth) led the pack finishing in 1:02.22 followed by Beth Dreikosen (Sheboygan/North) with a time of 1:02.57 and Candice Wayne (West Bend/West) recorded a time of 1:02.75.

Megan Linse (Jefferson/Jefferson) added a first place finish in the 60 meter hurdles stopping the clock in 9.50. Teammate Tyler Henderson (Madison/Verona) was right behind crossing the line in second with a time of 9.75. 

The distance medley relay team of Amanda Brom (Jefferson/Jefferson), Lauren Mosher (Sleepy Hollow, IL/Dundee Crown), Megan Buse (Franklin/Oak Creek) and Amy Kahl (Huntley, IL/Huntley) recorded the top time, 13:12.29, in the event.

In the field events, Shelby Mahr (Boyd/Stanley-Boyd) and Amy Miskowicz (Woodstock, IL/Marion Central Catholic) led the Warhawks in the throws. Mahr heaved the weight throw 55-4.25, the farthest distance in the event. She added a second place finish in the shot put, 41-2.5. Miskowicz was third in the weight throw with a distance of 46-2.5 and third in the shot put, 38-4.25. 

Melanie Pilon (Waukesha/South) won the pole vault competition with a height of 10-6. Teammate Emma Glogovsky (Elkhorn/Elkhorn) was second with a vault of 9-6.25. 

Other top three finishers for the Warhawks include: Haley Precia (Menomonee Falls/Menomonee Falls), long jump, 4-9.75; 4x400 relay (Brom, Buse, Mosher, Sarah Kasiurak (Bartlett, IL/Bartlett)), 4:26.05; Henderson, triple jump, 35-10.5; and Sara Fuller (Marshfield/Marshfield), 600 meter run, 1:54.84.

The Warhawks will travel to Bourbonnais, Illinois to compete in the NAIA/NCAA D3 Multi-Event and Challenge January 24-25.
