UW-Whitewater defeated Carleton College 5-4 Saturday to take fifth place at the Midwest Invitational in Madison, Wisconsin. On Friday the Warhawks lost to Case Western Reserve 7-2, but bounced back with a win against Gustavus Adolphus later in the day 6-3. The Warhawks dual match record is now 14-8 and Carleton falls to 9-7.

The Warhawks won at two and three doubles but fell at the top flight.
Sydney Divelbiss (Middleton/Middleton), who typically partners with
Alexandra Bayliss (Sheboygan/North) at one doubles, did not compete this weekend due to illness.
With a 2-1 lead after doubles the Warhawks just needed to split the remaining six singles matches to earn the win, and that's exactly what they did.
Bayliss,
Megan Kasten (Verona/Verona), and
Lauren Aguilar (Gurnee, IL/Carmel Catholic ) were victorious at one, three, and four singles, respectively.
Jackie Vitale (Roselle, IL/Lake Park), the Warhawks' number two singles player, had a close match with Anne Lombardi of Carleton but lost 6-4, 7-6.
Kelly Foster (Glen Ellyn, IL/Glenbard West ) and
Erika Williams (Burnsville, MN/Lakeville South) also had tough matches with Foster losing in three sets and Williams falling 6-1, 7-6.
The Warhawks finished the Midwest Invitational in fifth place out of eight teams. The tournament is played every year and hosts several of the top teams in the central region.
UW-W will take the week off before traveling to Cedar Rapids, Iowa to play Coe and Grinnell on April 13 at 10 am and 2 pm.
