Baseball Sweeps Fontbonne

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 UW-W won game one 15-2.  The game was ended in seven innings because of the run differential rule.  The Warhawks also took the second half of the twinbill, winning 5-1.

Tom Kerndt (Lansing, IA/Lansing) went five innings for UW-W to pick up the win on the mound.  Steve Bartlein (South Milwaukee/South Milwaukee) collected three hits, including a home run, and Michael Gonzalez (Delavan/Delavan-Darien) also went yard for the Warhawks.  Marty Herum (River Falls/River Falls) contributed three runs batted in, joining Herum to top that category.

Matt Roberts (Manitowoc/Roncalli) pitched five innings, striking out eight, for UW-W.  Dylan Friend (Burlington/Burlington) and Herum stroked two hits apiece.  David Cladis (Joliet, IL/Joliet Catholic) reached base three times on walks, and Gonzalez drove in a pair of runs.

UW-Whitewater, 3-1, will play a single game against Illinois Wesleyan University Saturday in Saint Louis.  UW-W is ranked tenth in the D3baseball.com poll, and IWU is in the "others receiving votes" category. 

UW-W's first home game of the season is set for March 30 at 1:00, with Ripon College visiting Miller Field at Prucha Stadium on the north end of the Whitewater campus.
