Box Score The UW-Whitewater women's soccer team remained undefeated after a 3-3 tie with Illinois Wesleyan Wednesday night in Bloomington, Illinois. The Warhawks,
ranked in two national polls, fought back from a 3-1 deficit to earn the tie and move to 9-0-3 this season. The Titans are 8-1-3 and in the "others receiving votes" category of both polls.
The Titans got on the board in the eighth minute but
Brianna Reid (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) found
Carly Pottle (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) for a goal from twelve yards out seven minutes later to even the score.
Illinois Wesleyan turned up the heat in the last ten minutes of the first half scoring two goals to take a 3-1 lead into the half. Tillie Bill assisted on all three goals for Illinois Wesleyan, a feat accomplished only two other times in IWU history.
The Titans fired off two quick shots to start the second half but Warhawk junior goalkeeper
Jordan Myers (Aurora, IL/Waubonsie Valley) made both saves.
UW-W fought back with consecutive corners just minutes later. The Warhawks made it 3-2 when
Jessica Allemang (Wauwatosa/Wauwatosa West) sent the second corner into the box and Reid headed it in for her sixth goal of the year. UW-W continues to do damage through the air this season. They have scored on six headers; Reid on three.
With less than 15 minutes remaining in the game
Kaitlyn Fritsch (Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) found a loose ball in the box and pounded it home to tie the game at three.
For the remaining 34 minutes (14 minutes of regulation and two 10-minute overtimes) each team shot the ball just one more time and the game ended with a tie.
The Titans outshot the Warhawks 14-11 but UW-W seemed to have the ball on IWU's end more often notching 13 corners to just 3 for the home team.
UW-W will put their undefeated record on the line in their next game on Saturday, October 12 against UW-Stout in Menomonie, Wisconsin at 2:00 pm.
